Two Postdoctoral Research Associates: Coyte Lab at the University of Manchester

The Coyte Lab at the University of Manchester are seeking to appoint two Postdoctoral Research Associates to two exciting research projects, both exploring the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of complex microbial communities.

The first project will be exploring the dynamics of carbon fixing microbiomes inhabiting volcanic hot-springs in Iceland. The post-holder will lead mathematical modelling, bioinformatic analyses, and potentially lab experiments to explore how these hot-spring communities change over time, with a particular focus on community coalescence. Further details can be found here: https://www.jobs.manchester.ac.uk/Job/JobDetail?JobId=32976&Source=JobtrainGoogle

The second project will be exploring the interplay between the mammalian immune system and the microbiome. The post-holder will lead the analyses of a rich longitudinal dataset we have recently assembled in wild-type and selectively immunodeficient mice. There will be considerable flexibility in research direction, including “wetlab” components, depending on applicant expertise. The job advert is expected to go live at the end of August, but interested candidates are welcome to contact Prof. Coyte to discuss the project in the meantime.
